Nurture Yourself (Even During the Holidays)!

It’s an especially stressful time of the year, hence it’s necessary to nurture ourselves daily (holidays or not) because if we do not value ourselves we end up wreaking havoc on all levels of our being – from emotional resentment to physical fatigue to spiritual disconnect and the like.  The exercise below is an excerpt from WTF I'm Trying to Be Spiritual - A Workbook for Loving Yourself without Fear (copyright 2016 Jeanette Bishop & Helen Varga) in which you personally come up with ways to nurture yourself every day.

Be creative when it comes to  nurturing experiences for the mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and sexual aspects of your being including:

  • doodling or coloring

  • watching a funny show or video

  • listening to Mother Nature (birds singing, water, etc)

  • cuddling a fur baby (yours or someone else’s)

  • 5 minute meditation during break/lunch

  • 1 minute prayer at the end of the day

  • taking a social media time-out for 1 hour

  • morning snuggle with your significant other

Exercise: Daily Nurturing

Value your being by making a list of daily nurturing experiences you’d benefit from. Remember, it might change because what you need today might not be what you need tomorrow, next week, or even next year.
